Shall I tell you why we leave a candle burning in your room when we shut out the lights? Do you want to know why stories told to generations before you were more than just stories?
Because, my dear. Your father's father didn't know that we are the sheep and they, the wolves. And that is why the candle protects you.
It isn't magic... there is no magic, little one. It's a message, for them... the ones with the red eyes who see through the shadows. The ones with the fangs who tear out the throats of the unfortunates they find in the darkness of night.
It's a message that says: "We know you're there, and we will not fight you. Please go somewhere else." because you see, my darling. They're not without mercy, they love as we love and they hate as we hate but they must feed... And we are their food.
Keep always your candle burning bright, close the doors and shut out the night. For if they come you cannot fight. So say your prayers and shut your eyes tight, and wait for the salvation of the morning light.
Say your prayers and got to sleep now, little one. Stay in your bed and don't even peek out the shutters,
" you don't want to see them and you certainly don't want them to see you."

The Kindred of New Orleans
Mortis Nocturne is an 18+ system played through an IRC chat client with live players from across the globe. Sharing a love of the World of Darkness and personal horror.
Mortis Nocturne is a free to play Vampire the Masquerade Chronicle, set in the modern nights of New Orleans.
The World of Darkness systems are games of personal horror and made to NOT be "nice" games. If you have any issues with personal horror or "Blood Guts and Gore" then perhaps this is not the system for you.
Mortis Nocturne uses fantasy and also real life suspicions of the supernatural to tell it's dark story. However it is important to remember that this is a Game and therefore anything that is done or occurs around your character is not meant to be a slight or insult to your person.
If you have any issues it is best to discuss these with the Storyteller who will be on hand to help and listen to your concerns!
