GEEK

How the "Geekdom" began:

My name is Charlotte. I have making 'things' since before I could speak. To be honest that sounds pretty ridiculous, but apparently it's true according to some folks. I have always wanted my own business and my desires to make it one surrouding art and creation were only natural to follow the madness that is the business world.

So I set out to sell art and crafts equipment, but I found time and time again that people were either 'not an artist' or just not as enthusiastic as me about the medium. So I left it for a few years. Which if I am honest were completely miserable. I wrote for a while and tried to make the creation part of my brain satisfied with that alone. BIG mistake.

Not only was I sad, I also found that my brain was having trouble holding all the ideas I was having inside. So my writing projects would flit and change like the winds, basically causing me to never get anything done or finish anything.

I hated that circle.. more than I hate Bieber... and I have a high and fairly elaborate hatred for him especially.

Time passed and I moved to the United States from the UK. Originally I am from Croydon in the south of England. Then I found myself in Indianapolis, IN. It was not long before my husband decided that he would sell my soul..

He introduced me to 'Michael's.' & 'Hobby Lobby'   ...O..M..G...

I had never been in a superstore craft shop. Never. This was like the halls of some artisan heaven to me. I realized pretty quickly another fact that was a good and a bad thing. I was never going to keep up with the big boys in selling arts and crafts equipment in this country. I just don't have that measley few million bucks to put away into it. Plus I don't have Martha Stewart's figure... so that sucks.

However I have always been told the THINGS I make are good, most pals and friends like to buy them. People enjoy them. Cool. So here we are and beginning a new journey of creation in a way I have not tried before. Handmade Geekdom.

Handmade Geekdom can mean a few things, but what it does not mean is that everything here is themed on a TV show or a favourite movie. Sure we have that too. But it's not everything. This website is also made to start of a new community of crafters and artists who are little more clued into the modern world of arts and crafts.

It also means that I am willing to blast test theories and equipment that you are not sure you want to try. Seriously just let me know and I will blow up that mutha. I am willing to try pretty much anything to do with arts and crafts. Any discipline and any trial.

In light of such to do with the latter two points made, I have decided to include a blog on this site, including the wins and fails of equipment that are out there to purchase. But also my own projects, because let's face it. Some of them are going to suck.

So please join and share your talents and ideas, really I never get tired of new things in this world. Arts and crafts are my passions, to meet other people with the same love for creation is part of that enjoyment!

There is not a lot more I can really say on this, apart from to welcome you to the Geekdom and express my wish for you to enjoy this site and community!
