Triton

The Triton are the stuff of nightmares, where they are ferocious they are also one of the more recent tribes to take their hold under the ocean's surface. They are known as beings to be feared through many songs and tales of dirtwalkers.

Triton are mollusc covered merfolk, living with a growing number of barnicles and other sealife that attaches to them throughout their lives. It is not unusual for these creatures to inspire fear by merely glancing over them. A forever bound tale of what can happen to the bodies of men drowned and claimed by the waves.

Some say the Tritons were born of the union of a Pearl Weeper and the fiercest pirate that ever sailed, though the name of this man was long lost and has changed from story to story over the years. His abuses brought about mutiny on his ship and his crew cast him overboard in a squall. The Pearl Weeper took pity on him, saving him and trying to mend the wounds of his soul. But some souls are as tumored and foul as a leper and no ammount of healing can change that. But she tried...

Days, weeks, months and years, he remained with her, in the silence of the depths. She bore him many children. Hideous, malformed abominations of man and merfolk, the Triton's deformities range from lobster claws to barnacles consuming them to immobility. It is said that many of the worlds great reefs are borne on the backs of Tritons.

Those Triton's who do move, do so only to hunt. Little more than feral beasts with the power of speech, they often would prefer to use their shark like teeth other ways.

Of all of the seafolk the Triton are most reviled. Known cannibals the darkness in their souls does not permit for notions like peace or parlay. Such is the merfolk's opinion's of the Triton's... It is whispered however, that the great Captain still lives and that his children, beasts in their own right heed his words and calls.

Nevertheless, the folk will not forget and the Pearl Weepers especially are warned against 'mixing' with the dirtwalkers. However with the death of the oceans around them, more and more have been seen walking the Unsea in a tragic turn of events.

Tribal Totem: Giant Spider Crab

Advantage: A Triton has the advantage of a single armored health level, due to their covered skins.

Drawback: The Triton are hideous in their homid forms as well, even when in protection of the veil and the secrets of where they come from and what they are. When they are in homid form they do not gain the physical booster the form gives and also are severely waterlogged at all times, making their skin wrinkle and hang like hags. They are at a constant -2 Social traits, no matter what form they are in.

Backgrounds: The Triton may not take Allies nor Ancestors as they have devoured their own.

Beginning Tribal Gifts: Barnicle Hide, Killing Bite, Devoured Wisdom.

Mer Form: The Triton are always ferocious beast like creatures, covered in barnicles and other sealife, the older they are the more covered they become, their different forms always hold these carapices apart from when in homid where they are simply ragged and almost disgusting to look at.  They do not speak with ease, under the water they have their own language of rough sounds and almost growling hums they use to communicate. When above the oceans they speak with deep gravely voices that tend to use simple words and terms rather than the eloquence the other tribes have been able to gain.

Organization: The Triton do not seem to have a structured organization, instead they are simple workers for themselves, they do not gather very often but it is said that when they do they hum the tunes of their dead ones and create the ripples of the oceans, making great waves during certain times of the year.

Habitat / Protectorate: The Triton are known to live in the wrecks of great ships and other boneyards under the waves, they do however also live within the reefs and have their own holdings of cave like spaces within them.
