Rusalka

The Rusalka are the all female tribe of the Merfolk, defenders of the sacred waters of the world. They are traditional in the sense that they are the single fish tailed creatures that normally are dark in shades, especially their long and beautiful touseled hair that comes in many shades of darkness and almost inky colors.

The women however beautiful are also deadly in their own ways, they can use extreme means to seduce and gain a hold on even the bravest of hearts. However they are not normally willing to go through with the deals their seduction sometimes creates. To seduce a dirtwalker is to weaken them, bring them down into the depths and give them the watery grave they deserve.

The oceans at these times are being ravaged and pillaged by men and dirtwalkers who have no love nor respect for the sea's beauty and bounty. A payday is more in their hearts and this is purely what enfuriates the Rusalka. The death of their brethern and loved ones holds heavy in the hearts of these women. For this they suffer almost no guilt for the lives they are so ready to take.

Besides their deadly natures they are also lovers of the arts and music, beautiful songstresses and talespinners. Their voices are known to have brought even the hardened warriors of the world to their knees and tears flowing from their eyes. Most of their songs and tales will speak of the death of the oceans around them, the lost loves of their grandmothers and ancestors that created the tribe under their beautiful totem after many years of being left without a mate due to their deathes at the hooks of fishermen. To say they are bitter of this is to put it lightly.

When it comes to mates however, these women do not normally take them, infact they are known to have partners within such tribes as the pearlweepers and triton to have their young and then leave, to settle down with a family unit under the waves is far from the norm. They however will not ever even consider mating with an Octun as these women think of what monstrosities they will create by doing so, not believing it to be part of nature.

Beginning Tribal Gifts: Awe, Purify and Song of the Fallen.

Mer Form: Rusalka are normally dark in their colouring, including the dusky shades of homid skin as well as hair colour.

Organization: The Rusalka are organized by the Grandmothers of the tribe, named the Ovo. These 3 Rusalka are the greatest and most beautiful of the tribe and are also thought to be the eldest. The Ovo all give their 'daughters' care and affection in the way of great mothers, not only loving them but also restricting them for their own safety. The Ovo are greatly feared for this reason as it is not unknown for a wayward Rusalka to have met her ends by the hands of a disapproving Ovo. The Ovo are known to live in the deepest waters of the Atlantic bowl, a dark water area in the deepest reaches of the ocean bed, not many will dare to ventrue into such darkness.

Habitat / Protectorate: The Rusalka are known to live within the fishing lines and waterways of greater ships, making sure to have their numerous pray in reach, including sailors and fishermen who anger their broken hearts. They also can be found in docks and small islands, not so much keeping to the shallows but rather venturing to them on the hunt for those after their 'payload' at the expense of the sea. The Rusalka sleep however down into the depths of dark waters and underwater caves they are use as their own homes, sometimes beautiful decorated with the lost bones and belongings of their victims and shipwrecked dead humans.
